Ohio Healthy Programs Training Session 2: Healthy Menus @ Cuyahoga County Board of Health
Nov 5 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Session 2 – Healthy Menus:  ST10086015.  This session focuses on planning a healthy menu. Participants will plan, create and evaluate sample or current menus. Participants will discuss ideas on how to make menus healthier on a budget. Tips will be given to ensure variety and balance. Connection to the health and well-being standards will be discussed.  Training is free, participants will receive 2.5 Ohio Approved Step Up hours.

Ohio Healthy Programs Training Session 3: Healthy Policies @ Cuyahoga County Board of Health
Nov 5 @ 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Session 3 – Healthy Policies:  ST10086016.  This session focuses on creating a healthier child care environment. Participants will discuss ways to craft an atmosphere where kids can grow, learn, and play at their best. This fun, interactive session provides participants with ideas on how to adopt and implement a new healthy policy successfully. Discussion of setting the tone and culture of wellness for the program will be emphasized. This session has been approved as an elective for the Administrator Credential Level II, Option I. Training is free, participants will receive 2.5 Ohio Approved Step Up hours.

Nov 7 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Healthy Habits- ST# 10086011.   This session focuses on supporting teachers to build healthy habits in early learning environments.  This is Part 4.  You must attend all four parts to receive credit.

Part 1 – The importance of providing physical activity opportunities in child care settings will be stressed.

Part 2 – The role of how adults support children in feeding and eating will be discussed. Participants will learn basic nutrition and tips on how to encourage new foods in a healthy manner.

Part 3 – Participants will discuss what constitutes a healthy body weight for children. Ideas for healthy growing will be further explored through discussion of how healthy food can be grown in child care settings.

Part 4 – This last session of the Healthy Habits series focuses on strategies to encourage parent outreach.

Training is free, participants will receive 10 Ohio Approved Step Up hours upon completion of ALL FOUR classes in the session.

PAX Good Behavior Game Webinar

USDA Proposed New Rules Affecting CACFP: What You Need to Know

Join USDA and FRAC for a webinar on two proposed Child Nutrition rules impacting the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Learn what you need to know about USDA’s proposed:

 

· Updates to the regulations on meal modifications for disability or non-disability (vegetarian or religious) reasons, including milk substitutions;

· Request for your comments on future regulatory action regarding grain-based desserts in CACFP; and

· Streamlined application process for CACFP institutions in good standing when applying to participate in the Summer Food Service Program
