Day 2:  Utilizing Cultural and Linguistic Humility to Understand, Appreciate, and Engage Families.

  • Families are a vital part of a child’s development and education.  In order to encourage familial engagement, participants will be encouraged to reflect on current practices, cultural humility, personal bias, and strategies for engagement.  Additionally, participants will identify the benefits of true engagement and how it differs from involvement and also identify ideas to help families engage.  Participants will be paired with ECMH consultants to work on strategic planning for implementing change in their own environments.

Ohio Early Childhood Health Network Webinar – Feed Our Future: Local Foods for Growing Minds
Oct 15 @ 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Feed Our Future:  Local Foods for Growing Minds began as a local farm to school effort in Northeast Ohio to inspire local school districts and households to promote healthy, local foods.   Over the past year, Feed Our Future has expanded its presence to reach both a regional and national audience, partnering with other like-minded organizations to ensure that school aged children have choice for local foods and also have opportunities to engage with the local food system within their school community.
In partnership with the Early Ages Healthy Stages coalition, Feed Our Future is currently exploring ways in which its model can be expanded to support early education.
