Ohio Healthy Programs Training Session 1: Healthy Habits @ Cuyahoga County Board of Health
Oct 2 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Healthy Habits- ST# 10086014.   This session focuses on supporting teachers to build healthy habits in early learning environments.  This is Part 1.  You must attend all four parts to receive credit.

Part 1 – The importance of providing physical activity opportunities in child care settings will be stressed.

Part 2 – The role of how adults support children in feeding and eating will be discussed. Participants will learn basic nutrition and tips on how to encourage new foods in a healthy manner.

Part 3 – Participants will discuss what constitutes a healthy body weight for children. Ideas for healthy growing will be further explored through discussion of how healthy food can be grown in child care settings.

Part 4 – This last session of the Healthy Habits series focuses on strategies to encourage parent outreach.

Training is free, participants will receive 10 Ohio Approved Step Up hours upon completion of ALL FOUR classes in the session.

Quarterly Meeting – Ohio Early Childhood Health Network @ Children's Hunger Alliance

Please join us for an update on efforts being made in early education to support children’s health and wellness, including updates from Governor DeWine’s Office of Childhood Initiatives, Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Education and ongoing work by the OECHN working groups. Trauma Informed Care and Cultural Humility @ Positive Education Program

Free training provided by the Hopewell Health Centers, Inc. in partnership with Whole Child Matters Grant Partners

Day 1:  Creating a Trauma Sensitive Environment.

  • Participants will identify six guiding principles to trauma informed care, strategies for implementation, and the positive impact trauma sensitive environments have on children, families, and relationships.  Participants will be paired with ECMH consultants to develop strategic plans and identify resources to utilize for implementation with their own environments.

Day 2:  Utilizing Cultural and Linguistic Humility to Understand, Appreciate, and Engage Families.

  • Families are a vital part of a child’s development and education.  In order to encourage familial engagement, participants will be encouraged to reflect on current practices, cultural humility, personal bias, and strategies for engagement.  Additionally, participants will identify the benefits of true engagement and how it differs from involvement and also identify ideas to help families engage.  Participants will be paired with ECMH consultants to work on strategic planning for implementing change in their own environments.
