What is Farm to Early Care and Education?
Farm to Early Care and Education is an initiative that supports ECE programs in promoting healthy eating, nutrition education, and hands-on learning about food and agriculture to benefit young children and their families. It expands on Farm to School’s core elements—local food sourcing, gardens, and food education—for ECE programs serving children ages 0 to 5.
Why does this matter for ECE Programs?
Farm to Early Care and Education (Farm to ECE) supports the development of healthy habits in young children by introducing them to nutritious, local foods and hands-on learning about food and agriculture. Early exposure to these concepts helps build lifelong healthy eating habits and promotes overall well-being. It also provides ECE programs with valuable resources, training, and support to enrich their curricula, enhance child development, and engage families in wellness activities.
Farm to Early Care and Education is an initiative supported by the Ohio Department of Health, which offers an Ohio-Approved training for licensed ECE professionals.
